Time Saving Websites:
Atlanta Traffic

How can I put the phrase, "time saving" and "Atlanta traffic" together in one breath? The promise is entirely wrapped around that a little information can help you avoid the worst of a bad traffic situation. In acknowlegement of our terrible traffic here in town, there are a number of websites utilizing web cams and traffic counters to let us know which intersections to avoid.

The first website was sponsored by the Geogia Department of Transportation (GdoT). Its called the Georgia Navigator site. On this site you will see all the information used to feed travel times to the overhead signs on the interstates as well as pictures from the GdoT surveillance cameras.

My favorite site however is the Traffic411 site. If has similar information, but the page loads much faster and seems more concise to me.

Finally, I discovered a website with all the traffic cameras loading at once. It loads really slowly, but if there is a clear delay in town, you can see the extent. Its purely a novelty site, but deserves mention for the effort.

New FAQs:
All About Spyware

Spyware generally refers to any technology that gathers personal information, such as your shopping and surfing habits, without your knowledge or consent. From the less harmful cookie to more nefarious data collection software or Web bugs, spyware can enter your computer as a software virus (along with new software) or from a Web page while you surf.

That spyware then sends your personal information--such as Web sites you've visited, your IP address, or your computer's host name--back to a parent company or server, where it can be shared with advertisers or used to serve up ads targeted at users like you.

New Gadgets:
CES 2003

As a child, Christmas began in August when the Sears Christmas Wish Book would come in the mail. Within its pages, were the assorted colorful and often plastic entertainments whose promise would fuel our good behavior between that time and Santa's Christmas visit.

But colorful, plastic entertainments don't cease with childhood though. For a grown person, these come from the semi-annual Consumer Electronics Show. Earlier in January was the first for 2003.

Home Networking:
Music where you want it

Move your music where you want it to be! Release your MP3s from the confines of your computer and listen to them on your stereo...in another room. Listen to Internet radio from your PC while you're lounging on your couch in the den or enjoying a barbecue out back with guests. Have the convenience of storing your music library on your computer or MP3 player and use it as your own personal jukebox while listening to the playback on your stereo's receiver or portable FM radio. These are a few of the uses for US Robotics' SoundLink system.

Simply plug the SoundLink transmitter unit into your music source (PC/MP3 player, DVD, etc.) and either plug the SoundLink receiver unit into your stereo's audio input or tune your FM receiver to 88.1 or 88.3. Integrate your PC's music library into the mainstream of your household with wireless convenience and enjoy Internet audio and MP3s virtually anywhere.

Online Entertainment:
one stop for credits

It's a commercial site, but few spots on the web offer as much information on movies in one consolidated place. In short, this is the Internet Movie Database at:

http://www.imdb.com

Go there and type in your favorite movie, actor or director and a collection of related links and topics pop up from your search.

For example: Marlon Brando. Sure he played the Godfather, but what else? Did you remember that he played Superman's father, "Jor-El" in "Superman (1978)"; or that he sang as, "Sky Masterson" in "Guys and Dolls (1955)".

Its mostly trivia, but with this site in your bookmarks, wonder no more and win all the friendly wagers on the whos-who for movie roles.

Luke 9

24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.

25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?
